Before I signed up for this competition, I was basically just maintaining. I didn’t lift too heavy — especially for my upper body — due to an old shoulder injury I’d ignored for ages.

"My name is Manj, I’m 44 years old, a single parent, and I joined Elite Coaching in June. It’s been an amazing journey so far.
I joined because I’d been struggling with my training ever since a sewage flood hit my flat in January. I was self-coaching and had started prep to compete in April/May — but sadly, that didn’t happen. I fell into depression after being moved into emergency hotel accommodation, where meal prepping was impossible. With my three sons and two cats to care for, and having to move rooms three times, I had to focus on making sure they were okay.
After 7.5 weeks, we were moved into a temporary flat. That’s when I started turning things around. The gym facilities there allowed me to get back on track with training and nutrition.
